The role leads the employee relations function for the Americas, executing a globally consistent strategy that aligns with the company's values and supports sustainable business success. Acting as a trusted advisor, the leader guides senior leaders through the evolving employee relations and employment law landscape, ensuring clarity and confidence.
Stakeholder engagement requires building strong internal relationships with People Services, Business Partners, Compliance, and senior leadership, while externally representing the organization with works councils, regulators, and industry bodies. This influence embeds best-in-class employee relations practices into daily operations and strategic planning.
The leader serves as the escalation point for the most sensitive, high-impact employee relations and employment law cases worldwide, modeling principled decision-making that protects the culture. They also equip and coach HR leaders, and play a pivotal role in managing people aspects of major transformations such as restructuring, M&A, and cultural shifts, ensuring smooth execution and minimal risk.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, globally minded leader who combines strategic vision with deep expertise in employee relations and employment law. A qualified employment lawyer with a proven track record in large, matrixed organizations, strong people leadership, cultural fluency, analytical acumen, and experience in labor-union strategy is essential.
