Junior Electrical Design Engineer

Description

• Specify switchgear, transformers, cabling, and substation layouts
• Design and deliver electrical networks for solar, wind, and BESS projects
• Perform electrical calculations using design tools (e.g. Amtech, ETAP)
• Liaise with clients, DNOs, and internal teams to progress designs
• Produce design documentation, schematics, and single-line diagrams

Requirements

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering grid connection designs for renewable energy projects. Working in the Independent Connections Provider (ICP) team, you’ll design adoptable networks from LV through to 132kV, ensuring compliance with DNO, IDNO, and ENA G81 standards. The position offers technical challenge, client interaction, and the opportunity to contribute directly to the UK’s net zero ambitions.

• Knowledge of renewable generation and grid connection processes
• Proven design experience within an ICP, DNO, or consultancy
• Proficient in AutoCAD and electrical design software
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Strong understanding of G81 and DNO technical standards
