Under direct supervision, the engineer will offer guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues, and will be responsible for planning, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring work activities. They will produce thorough technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches while continuously improving their engineering knowledge and performance.
This is a second‑level engineering position that provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems within a specific area of specialization, working under some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and operate with greater independence.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree from an ABET/EAC‑accredited engineering program (or equivalent evaluation) or a graduate degree from an accredited institution, along with 2 to 4 years of practicing engineering experience. Candidates must understand basic engineering theories and design practices, communicate effectively, and be able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Additional expectations include self‑motivation, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, customer orientation, and managing multiple tasks while providing leadership to others. Desired qualifications are a passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam, basic project management knowledge, and experience in the utility industry.
