The Senior Quality Specialist performs routine activities to monitor and coordinate the project quality program, focusing on JE Dunn self‑perform scopes such as concrete, precast, masonry, steel, and general carpentry. Responsibilities include reviewing documents, attending meetings, conducting walk‑through inspections, and investigating non‑compliant conditions.
Core duties involve participating in safety and quality plans, ensuring comprehensive documentation of quality processes, collaborating with suppliers, gaining design‑document knowledge to identify potential issues, and utilizing contract documents. The specialist attends pre‑planning, pre‑installation, and progress meetings, conducts regular site observations, investigates non‑compliance, prepares quality reports for superintendents and subcontractors, assists with documentation, may conduct basic constructability reviews, help schedule third‑party inspections, and coordinate with VDC, Quality Group, Safety, and other JE Dunn teams.
Senior‑level responsibilities include establishing and updating Project Specific Quality Plans, completing Project Quality Status Reports before monthly reviews, contributing to national quality initiatives, listing major quality issues, performing detailed constructability reviews, conducting intermediate testing (water, moisture, material compatibility, adhesion), providing on‑site or office training, reviewing and certifying submittals, monitoring work practices, communicating quality status at project meetings, mentoring less‑experienced coworkers, and identifying non‑compliant conditions with advanced quality skills.
The role requires accurate, timely work, intermediate verbal and written communication, proficiency in MS Office and JE Dunn quality software, the ability to read drawings and specifications, and knowledge of materials, field testing, QA procedures, construction assemblies, and trade scopes. Building relationships and teamwork are essential.
A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience is acceptable. Required certification is ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1; ICC reinforced concrete, structural masonry, and soils certifications are preferred. A minimum of five years of construction quality experience is required.
The position requires a valid unrestricted driver’s license, ability to lift up to 25 lb, willingness to work non‑traditional hours and travel, and may involve exposure to extreme conditions.
