Fabricators examine customer specifications, drawings, work orders, or blueprints to determine material requirements and machine setup. They fabricate work pieces according to those specifications, retrieve the correct materials, and perform various fabrication duties. Throughout the process they visually and dimensionally inspect pieces using tape rules, calipers, or gauges to ensure standards are met, then package items for shipping and install protective devices to prevent damage in transit. All work is performed in accordance with company safety policies and any additional duties assigned.
