Commercial and Contracts Specialist

Description

Reporting to the Commercial and Contracts Manager, the Commercial and Contracts Specialist is responsible for ensuring commercial contract best practices are consistently applied across the business. The role supports the embedding of appropriate commercial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to ensure due diligence, compliance, and risk mitigation throughout the contract lifecycle.

In this full‑time, permanent position, you will play a key role in guiding and educating the business to ensure sales contracts are executed using best‑practice principles and with minimal risk.

With a collaborative style and engaging approach, the successful candidate will build and maintain strong professional relationships across the organisation. Drawing on extensive experience in contract negotiation, formation, and management, you will provide informed recommendations, practical support, and constructive challenge on a wide range of commercial and contractual matters.

• Manage end‑to‑end contract negotiations to achieve sales contracting objectives while aligning with company standards.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure pre‑ and post‑award compliance and effective delivery of contractual obligations.
• Provide expert guidance on contractual terms, assess commercial and operational risks, and recommend strategies to maximise outcomes.
• Serve as the primary contact for internal legal consultation on commercial and contractual matters.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers to improve the customer experience and continuously enhance contracting processes.

Requirements

• Hold a degree in Commerce, Law, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrated contract management experience with strong knowledge of advanced commercial contracting principles.
• Experience drafting and reviewing letters, variations, and scope‑of‑work documentation.
• Exposure to project management methodologies and involvement in issue identification, escalation, and resolution strategies.
• Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills with the ability to influence and align diverse groups.
• Proven ability to optimise commercial value and drive improvements across the value chain.
• Professional approach with experience building internal and external networks for collaborative solutions.
• Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
