Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer

Description

The position supports the Thermal‑Hydraulics Team within Framatome’s Installed Base Products and Engineering organization, working alongside industry experts on advanced reactor designs, digital twins, fleet modernization, and new product development.

Day‑to‑day work involves autonomous engineering assignments that span design, analysis, testing, field tasks, and quality‑event resolution, all performed with a strong safety mindset and adherence to regulatory and customer standards.

• Conduct thermal‑hydraulics analyses for operating nuclear plants and small modular reactors under supervision.
• Plan and execute portions of larger engineering projects, providing technical support and input for proposals.
• Perform non‑standard engineering tasks including design, development, analysis, testing, field work, and resolution of quality events.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations, industry codes, and customer engineering standards while maintaining a safety mindset.
• Apply advanced software tools such as CFD (ANSYS‑Fluent), system analysis (AFT Fathom, RELAP5) and programming skills to plant systems design.
• Follow ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and other relevant standards in all analyses and designs.
• Communicate technical data effectively, collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, and provide informal leadership on projects.
• Identify problems, suggest process improvements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Successful candidates hold an engineering‑related bachelor’s degree, possess several years of relevant experience, and demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, problem‑solving, and informal leadership abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or Physics, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science).
• Minimum three years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in the nuclear industry or utility plants.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, techniques, and criteria applicable to nuclear thermal‑hydraulics.
• Proficiency with CAD, FEA, CFD tools and programming for engineering analysis.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
• Demonstrated informal leadership and a questioning, self‑checking attitude.
