The Data Center Operating Engineer is responsible for delivering best‑practice systems and resolving problems on all data‑center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including UPS, MV electrical systems, generators and cooling systems.
Daily duties include maintaining, monitoring and performing preventive maintenance on building systems to achieve 100 % uptime—fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAC, plumbing, controls, lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDUs, generators, switchgear, transformers and hot‑water systems. The engineer monitors refrigeration, chilled water, air‑conditioning equipment, boilers, pumps, valves, piping and filters, records readings and adjusts equipment as needed.
The role requires analyzing system performance, diagnosing malfunctions, taking corrective action, complying with hazardous‑material policies, keeping the workplace clean and safe, and managing incidents that could affect critical systems. Additional tasks include work‑order management through CMMS, vendor coordination, handling customer tickets, and following emergency escalation procedures.
JLL uses AI to analyze applications for relevant skills and experiences, generating insights that align candidates with role requirements while protecting personal data in accordance with its privacy notice and equal‑opportunity policies.
Required qualifications are at least 2 years of experience in a data‑center or critical‑facility environment, familiarity with UPS, emergency generators and switchgear, strong verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite and a CMMS. Preferred credentials include Corrigo experience, Universal EPA 608 certification and NFPA 70E training.
Physical requirements involve frequent walking, climbing, bending, lifting at least 50 lb, using ladders up to 30 ft, and working at heights or rooftops; the schedule may include holidays and on‑call emergency response.
This on‑site position is located in Chandler, AZ and does not provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Available shifts are Sunday‑Tuesday, every other Wednesday (ON) 6 am‑6 pm, and Thursday‑Saturday, every other Wednesday (ON) 6 am‑6 pm.
