The CNA takes and records vital signs, height, weight, and fluid intake/output, and promptly reports any abnormal changes in body functioning. They assist residents with medication reminders, bathing, grooming, dressing, escort services, and other activities of daily living, including transferring, positioning, turning, and providing skin care. The aide contributes to resident assessments and care plans, delivers nursing rehabilitation or restorative services, follows the scheduled care needs set by the supervisor, and offers emotional and social support. They also promote and protect resident rights, treat residents with dignity and respect, report suspected abuse or neglect, avoid physical restraints, and maintain confidentiality.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, with one to three months of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of one year of clinical or nursing experience is required, along with CNA licensure as dictated by state regulations. Candidates need acceptable English proficiency and basic computer skills. Personal attributes sought include dedication, compassion, and energy.
