Education: A Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, construction, engineering, or any related field is necessary for this position. Safety certifications are encouraged: OSHA 500, OSHA 510, CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, CIH (Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, Construction Safety and Health Technician, Occupational Safety and Health Technician, Certified Industrial Hygienist).
Technology: Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and have the ability to learn additional software. Training will be provided on company standards.
Remain current with OSHA 500 course, completion required every three years. Provide instruction to others as required.
Authority to shut down construction operations in the presence of imminently dangerous to life or health situations.
Skills: Independent judgment, excellent organizational and time management skills, and the flexibility to coordinate multiple projects are necessary skills for this position. A qualified candidate will also possess excellent communication, leadership, supervisory skills and ability to speak in front of large audiences. A Regional Safety Manager candidate must be proficient on the computer and be able to use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Power Point (Access beneficial). Analytical and interpretative ability is desirable. Individual must be detailed and accurate when preparing reports. Candidate must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Experience: A qualified candidate must have extensive experience in the safety and/or construction field and 10 years of experience as a safety manager, safety engineer, or safety professional. Experience managing a safety process or extensive experience in a formal safety position or project management would be essential.
