Design Engineer

Overview

Design and deliver HVAC/plumbing engineering solutions from concept through construction.

Tasks

-Manage time to meet project schedules and task deadlines -Complete code-required energy compliance and LEED documentation -The employee may regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. -While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods, stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. -Conduct engineering calculations, energy analysis, economic analysis, selection and layout of equipment, and duct & piping system design for HVAC, Plumbing, and other building systems for which ACCO offers expertise -Can attend small project design meetings on their own and communicate back to project manager. -Assist with coordination of design and installation with Project Management, Construction and Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners. -Computer 2D and 3D modeling of HVAC or plumbing systems utilizing the latest modeling software -Field engineering: assist with project execution, site surveys, trade coordination, scheduling, document management and problem solving

On a personal level has independently developed a vision for short- and long-term career success. -Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit, or similar drafting software preferred -Prior intern experience with mechanical contractor and/or engineering consultant preferred, but not required -Engagement: Shows a knack for using emotion and logic to communicate a persuasive vision and connect with people. -EIT Certificate highly desirable, but not required -Excellent understanding of Engineering fundamentals -Teamwork: The ability to effectively work toward common goals with others by supporting, encouraging, and sharing information in an authentic and approachable manner. -Able to delegate and work effectively with BIM support. -Understanding of applications engineering including psychrometrics, refrigeration, acoustics, and controls systems -The auditory/hearing abilities required by the job include the ability to hear customers calling by telephone. -This individual must be a responsible person and regular attendance is required. -Communicates well with engineering supervision, project management, BIM, and construction departments. -Understands the basics of system controls and can write a basic sequence of operation with supervision. -Demonstrates understanding of a complete construction set of documents and able to execute these projects with little supervision -BS in Engineering or Construction Management -Problem-Solver: Ability to identify, analyze, and solve a problem in support of personal, group, department, or organizational objectives. -Proactivity / Initiative: Recognizes what needs to be done and accomplishes it in a manner appropriate for one’s level/position and with minimal supervision. -The employee is regularly required to walk and sit. -Demonstrates understanding of ACCO business drivers for their projects. -Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Distance vision.
