

SGS provides inspection, verification, testing, and certification services across various industries.
The Field Technician is tasked with gathering and inspecting product and raw material samples for laboratory analysis, working under immediate supervision.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent; experience is not required unless mandated by state law. Required licenses may include a valid driver’s license, a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC), and a 24‑hour MSHA surface mine safety certificate, with training provided by SGS.
The role demands strong communication skills, intermediate English proficiency, basic to intermediate mathematical ability, and the capacity to follow directions, read safety and procedural documents, and work both independently and as a team player.
Travel may involve local day trips and occasional overnight stays, and the position requires use of standard office equipment as well as specialized sample preparation tools such as jaw crushers, pulverizing mills, pressure filters, and balances.
Physical demands include constant standing, moving, and hand use, frequent reaching, occasional climbing, and the ability to lift or carry up to 50 lb regularly; the work schedule follows a 4‑on‑4‑off rotating 12‑hour shift pattern with occasional overtime.
