The SHEQ Advisor for is responsible for supporting and driving excellence in Safety, Health, Environment & Quality across all company operations — including FEED, Detailed Design and Construction. This role ensures that the company complies with regulatory requirements, internal SHEQ systems, and best‑practice standards, while supporting continuous improvement and enabling effective risk prevention.

  • Coordinate internal and external audits for company sites/operations; track findings and ensure closure.
  • Assist with contractor pre‑qualification, SHEQ oversight, and mobilisation processes.
  • Develop and deliver SHEQ training, toolbox talks, inductions and communications.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses including root cause analysis and follow‑up.
  • Foster a proactive, prevention‑oriented SHEQ culture across the company.
  • Act as SHEQ advisor for company stakeholders promoting awareness and engagement.
  • Identify hazards and opportunities for improvement; liaise with teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain, monitor and report on SHEQ metrics, KPIs and registers specific to the company — covering safety incidents, environmental performance, quality non‑conformances, and near‑misses.
  • Support incident response, emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.
  • Contribute to development and revision of SHEQ policies/procedures tailored to delivery phases.
  • Monitor environmental aspects of company operations (waste, emissions, sustainability initiatives).
  • Lead or participate in SHEQ committees, site visits and workshops ensuring follow‑up on actions.
  • Oversee quality assurance activities within the company and ensure deliverables meet required standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, method‑statements (RAMS), site inspections and SHEQ reviews.
  • Support change management to embed SHEQ in design, construction and asset management phases.
  • Provide SHEQ input throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in SHEQ and embed a culture of high performance.
  • Ensure SHEQ management system (incorporating ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001) is maintained for company activities.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reporting (monthly/quarterly) to senior management.

Training, Communication & Culture

  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and prioritisation abilities.
  • Strong IT skills and experience of SHEQ systems/document control.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across all organisational levels.
  • Recognised NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to company sites as required.
  • Experience in audits, investigations, risk assessments, and SHEQ reporting.
  • Proven experience in a SHEQ Advisor, SHEQ Officer or similar role within a construction, engineering, or asset‑care environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, environmental regulations, and ISO management systems.
