The Robotic Welder Operator is responsible for operating computer‑controlled welding machines to fabricate metal products and assemblies. This role involves setting up, tending, and monitoring the equipment to ensure proper joining or bonding of components.
Key tasks include selecting and aligning jigs, fixtures, and guides; preparing workpieces with hand‑operated tools such as grinders and drills; reading basic blueprints; performing welder set‑up and routine preventative maintenance; and conducting post‑weld grinding and cleanup to meet visual standards.
The operator must maintain safe work habits, adhere to all safety policies, and regularly lift, load, and unload workpieces while activating manual clamps and operating control mechanisms. They also measure finished pieces with precision instruments, identify potential equipment issues, and communicate with supervisors or programmers to resolve malfunctions or obtain production approval.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and the ability to perform basic arithmetic, read simple words and sentences, and follow one‑ to two‑step instructions. Candidates must demonstrate common‑sense reasoning and the capability to work with standard units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
The position requires frequent standing, repetitive hand and arm motions, and regular reaching. Employees must frequently lift up to 10 lb, regularly lift up to 25 lb, and occasionally lift up to 50 lb.
The work environment involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and loud noise; hearing protection and required personal protective equipment must be worn on the production floor.
