A laboratory technician is responsible for performing scientific tests and analyses on samples in a laboratory setting, including collecting specimens, operating specialized equipment, recording data, and reporting results, often following strict protocols to ensure accuracy and quality control, while adhering to safety guidelines.

  • Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment to ensure laboratory can maintain high sample throughput.
  • Ensure quality control by following established protocols and procedures to maintain accuracy and consistency in results
  • Analyze results collected and ensure data is reported in a timely manner.
  • Follow written test procedures to ensure consistency in sample testing.
  • Communicating findings accurately and timely to relevant parties
  • Performing tests by operating laboratory equipment like microscopes, automated analyzers, and specialized instruments to conduct various tests on samples
