This role offers a chance to shape the technical direction of an electrical discipline, mentor the next generation of engineers, and contribute to integrated building systems that emphasize performance, reliability, and long-term value.
The position plays a key role in delivering integrated building systems, working closely with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology teams to ensure cohesive, high-performing designs across commercial and light industrial projects.
The role also includes leadership of the electrical team—overseeing workloads, mentoring staff, supporting recruitment, and contributing to long-term departmental planning.
The Electrical Engineering Leader serves as the senior technical authority for electrical design across the firm. This individual is responsible for setting standards, reviewing and stamping documents, guiding department direction, and supporting complex projects from concept through construction.
- Contribute to department strategy, growth planning, and succession development
- Participate in client meetings and respond to technical inquiries
- Coordinate closely with project managers and discipline leads to align schedules and deliverables
- Guide electrification, decarbonization, and smart-building strategies where applicable
- Support proposals, budgeting, scheduling, and effort estimation
- Mentor engineers and designers, supporting onboarding, training, and professional development
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives related to QA/QC, technology adoption, and process improvement
- Prepare technical specifications and equipment selections
- Serve as the primary electrical point of contact for select clients
- Support sustainability certifications such as LEED and similar programs
- Represent the firm within professional organizations and industry events
- Support mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems through electrical controls and power infrastructure design
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and materials to improve design quality and efficiency
- Review and seal construction documents for compliance, constructability, and code adherence
- Maintain relationships with vendors and manufacturers; evaluate and select products
- Lead electrical project planning, staffing, and workload management
- Drive continuous improvement of department documentation and workflows
- Perform engineering calculations, load studies, generator sizing, and utility coordination
- Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam for design review, redlining, and limited drafting
- Lead the design of electrical systems for commercial and light industrial facilities, including:
- Support business development through proposals, presentations, and interviews
- Ensure compliance with NEC (2020), local jurisdictional requirements, and applicable standards
- Establish and maintain department-wide design standards, templates, and calculation procedures
- Oversee the technical quality, consistency, and accuracy of electrical design deliverables
