System Engineer

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

• Engineering & Configuration Management: Develop and support technical and communication processes for managing the enduring OFFICIAL: Sensitive capability.
• Technical Authority Role: Attain and maintain Technical Authority within the JC2SPO CAF16 engineering management system.
• Stakeholder Engineering Support: Deliver system-related engineering advice to AWC and ADF EFB capability management representatives.
• Cross-Team Coordination: Facilitate technical communication between ADF EFB sustainment and CAF16 Engineering teams to progress tasks.
• Verification & Safety Support: Contribute to system verification/validation documentation and provide input to safety assessments and risk mitigation.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.

• Defence Documentation Skills: Experience producing high-quality technical and administrative documentation aligned with ADF standards.
• CASG Engineering & Configuration Experience: Proven engineering and configuration management experience within a CASG sustainment environment.
• Systems Engineering Expertise: Familiarity with Defence-related systems engineering practices, including SEMP, certification plans, and requirements management.
• Analytical & Innovative Thinking: Well-developed conceptual skills and the ability to apply innovative solutions to benefit Defence stakeholders.
• Strong Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent written and oral communication skills with a focus on building stakeholder relationships.
