This position offers the opportunity to leverage and expand an academic background in Power Systems by providing modeling and analytical support to interdisciplinary project teams. Responsibilities include supporting the interconnection of new power generation resources such as onshore and offshore wind, solar PV, battery storage, and traditional thermal generation, as well as transmission and distribution planning, design of new power plants, modifications to existing facilities, power system protection, and integration of emerging technologies like electric vehicles, microgrids, and green hydrogen production.
The role involves conducting a variety of power system studies, including power flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, transient and dynamic stability, transient over‑voltage, power quality and harmonics, cable ampacity, and grounding. Travel to client offices and project sites may be required to provide on‑site consultation.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems and at least ten years of related engineering experience are required; a Master’s or PhD is preferred. The ideal applicant possesses a solid understanding of electrical engineering principles, design techniques, and the ability to create technical plans, drawings, and models, along with proficiency in MS Office, strong written and verbal communication, and effective interpersonal skills.
Preferred qualifications include internship or work experience in power analysis, proficiency with power system software such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, ETAP, PSCAD, and others, and strong working knowledge of scripting languages like Python or JavaScript. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and Engineer‑in‑Training designation are also valued.
