The Lead Plumbing Design Engineer in Los Angeles will oversee the design and delivery of plumbing and fire‑protection systems from concept through construction, managing calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost opinions while ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and quality expectations. This hybrid role provides technical leadership, mentorship, interdisciplinary coordination, and updates to firmwide standards.
- Oversee preparation of narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Communicate plumbing design options to diverse stakeholders.
- Determine fire protection and plumbing system requirements for various building types.
- Provide design direction, mentorship, and guidance to the project team.
- Apply engineering judgment from concept through construction.
- Ensure projects meet budget and schedule constraints.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary efforts and update master specifications.
- Perform plumbing design calculations and select equipment.
- Provide probable construction cost estimates.
- Conduct site visits and issue reports.
- Implement the project quality management plan.

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of plumbing design experience.
- Professional credential (PE, CPD) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection concepts and codes (UPC, IPC, NFPA, IBC).
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lead and assemble a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
