Key responsibilities include performing construction inspection activities and assisting in the administration of highway and bridge projects, applying safety philosophy, monitoring contractor compliance, establishing engineering controls, preparing daily inspection reports, conducting on‑site material testing and sampling, measuring and documenting completed work, and interpreting construction plans and specifications. The employee will be assigned to NCDOT or other roadway and bridge projects, requiring daily travel to sites, occasional nights, weekends, and limited overnight travel. A valid state driver’s license, clean driving record, ability to lift 50 lb, traverse rough terrain, and work outdoors in all weather are required.
Applicants must have at least two years of CEI experience and be able to obtain required NCDOT certifications (such as Concrete Field Tech, Grade I QMS Asphalt Roadway Tech, etc.) within six months at no cost. OSHA 10‑Hour Construction Safety certification and basic computer/tablet operation skills are also required. The compensation range is $50,117–$66,822, with salary determined by factors such as geography, education, experience, and certifications.

The successful candidates will support current staff while helping grow the Construction Management and CEI practice to better serve clients statewide.
