Manage the design QA/QC process to deliver high-quality projects within the prescribed time frames. Provide meaningful feedback on the content on the documents to aid in quality improvement.
Supervise/mentor the work of other project managers, assistant project managers, and engineers on assigned projects
Lead on-site field surveys to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
Coordinate engineering and business development teams to maintain a consistent construction budget throughout the design process.
Train assistant project managers in basic project management skills while utilizing them to assist in daily execution of assigned projects.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instruction.
Mentor and provide guidance on complex designs and technical issues.
Initiate and maintain liaison with client personnel and coordinate with other disciplines contractors, architects, and other project team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality projects to facilitate successful construction activities within the prescribed time frames. Make presentations when necessary.
Issue Request for Proposals and contracts to Professional Service consultants including architects and other engineering disciplines for subconsultant design services.
Identify design, process and equipment options that can satisfy client requirements, minimize costs and limit potential operational problems.
Design QA/QC Process
Independently manage design-build and design-assist projects. Assume primary leadership responsibilities for each assigned project in partnership with the engineer of record.
Develop and maintain relationships with external project teams during preconstruction phase of projects (A/E, GC, Owner, other disciplines).
Provide engineering support to business development teams during pursuit of projects.
Lead developing standards, methods, processes and procedures for the engineering department.
Coordinate engineering resources to develop conceptual designs to support estimating
Develop and structure mentorship groups to effectively share knowledge and develop inexperienced employees
Ensure project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements and Brandt standards.
Develop and maintain project design schedule and participate in creation of construction schedule. Compare design and construction schedules to identify, communicate, propose resolutions to conflicts between the two.
Schedule Development and Management
Communicate and manage project goals and requirements with business development, engineering, estimating, and construction project management.
Manage all financial aspects of contracts (costs, billings and collections) to maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow while simultaneously maintaining a positive relationship with the client.
Monitor/control design development in coordination with engineering staff.
Identify, assess, and plan to avoid or counteract risk in all phases of assigned projects.
Respond to Request for Proposal for design services as well as review, approve, and negotiate terms on customer contracts.

Extensive experience/knowledge (5-10 years) of construction, design, finance, and management
Excellent time management skills
Ability to develop design tasks and distribute amongst the design team
Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
Detailed understanding of all MEP calculations and designs
Ideal candidate would have both project management and engineering work experience.
Active Professional Engineering license preferred
Proficient project management skills, including
Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities
Ability to lead design charettes and guide engineering team to efficient project development
Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office
4-yr. mechanical engineering or construction science degree (or commensurate levels of technical training and related experience)
Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment while adhering to project deadlines
Familiarity with Autodesk Products
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
Able to conceptually plan construction projects from beginning to end to fully realize how design decisions will impact construction.
Understanding of building codes and standards
Strong leadership and motivational skills to maximize team performance across various departments and job positions.
Excellent analytical and technical writing skills
