The Maintenance Operator is responsible for maintaining all emulsion and asphalt terminal equipment. The ideal candidate will operate and understand all plant machinery, safely enter confined spaces, and use pressure washers and vacuum equipment to clean tanks, boilers, trailers, and related assets at various locations.
The position involves loading and unloading emulsified asphalt, performing routine preventive maintenance, operating boilers, heaters, oxidizers, and other plant equipment, and ensuring proper tank cleaning, debris removal, and product testing. Employees must adhere to safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards, attend safety meetings, keep basic records, and be prepared to work overtime or travel to other sites as needed.
- Load and unload emulsified asphalt, binder, tack pot, and spreader trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventive measures on all plant equipment.
- Unload chemicals, supply trucks, and railcars.
- Operate boilers, heaters, oxidizers, and other plant machinery.
- Drain tanks, connect hoses to water or steam lines, and wash tank interiors to remove residue.
- Scrape and scrub tank walls to eliminate scale.
- Sweep debris and shovel sludge into buckets or wheelbarrows.
- Remove liquids from tank bottoms using squeegees or pump suction hoses.
- Manufacture products using mill or soap batch processes.
- Sample and test asphalt and emulsified asphalt to meet AASHTO specifications.
- Maintain basic written records and daily tank level readings.
- Participate in safety meetings and follow all environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Perform basic housekeeping tasks such as cleaning litter, spills, bathrooms, and offices.
- Work overtime as required and travel to other locations.
- Report to work daily and on time.

Candidates must be fluent in English, possess basic math and computer skills, and be familiar with hand and power tools. OSHA 10‑hour safety training, knowledge of boiler or hot‑oil heater operations, and the ability to work independently in dirty, adverse conditions are required.
