In this role you will design protection and control systems for high‑voltage substations ranging from 4 kV to 765 kV, emphasizing safety, cost, quality, and reliability. Responsibilities include generating detailed engineering deliverables, performing basic calculations, creating one‑line and three‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, control panel layouts, SCADA interfaces, and auxiliary system designs, as well as compiling material lists, quoting, and conducting site assessments and client communications.
GFT is seeking an experienced Substation Protection & Control Designer to join its expanding Power Group in a remote capacity. The team tackles cutting‑edge projects that advance energy infrastructure, providing solutions for power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy while focusing on reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
The ideal candidate has at least two years of substation or transmission and distribution design experience, proficient with AutoCAD and MicroStation, and familiar with NESC, NEC, and IEEE codes as well as MV, HV, and EHV voltage levels. strong project scheduling, budgeting, reporting, and Microsoft Office skills are also required.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in the energy industry or consulting services and a thorough understanding of relevant codes. Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $100,000, dependent on experience and geographic location, with core business hours of 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
