In this position you will test, evaluate and learn about new smart meters, firmware and connected devices, work hands‑on with electronics to diagnose faults or push them to performance limits, act as a tech ambassador by raising issues with manufacturers and shaping future product improvements, create clear documentation and guides for engineers and field teams, support investigations into asset performance to solve real‑world customer problems, and share your expertise by training colleagues on device use and deployment risks.
We are looking for someone confident working with electronic devices, comfortable inspecting, assembling or debugging hardware, able to follow structured test plans and accurately record results, with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and timelines. You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel and Access, and be a confident communicator who can engage effectively with both technical specialists and non‑technical colleagues.
It would be advantageous if you have experience with smart metering, electrical safety or device certification, familiarity with SMETS, GBCS or Zigbee standards, and scripting or programming experience in Python, LabVIEW, SQL or C/C++. A desire to keep learning, experimenting and sharing what you discover is essential.
