At E.ON Next, we’re determined to make new energy work for everyone.
As a Software Engineer AI embedded within a dedicated Product Squad, you will be the technical owner of end‑user facing AI products, specifically generative AI agents and intelligent workflows that deliver tangible business value. Your primary focus will be maximizing product performance, iterating based on user feedback, and creatively leveraging the capabilities of the internal GenAI Platform Team. The role is hybrid, typically requiring one day per week at the Citigen office in London.
You will design, build, and deploy multi‑step autonomous AI agents and workflows using standardized frameworks such as LangGraph or custom SDKs. Prompt engineering will be central to define deterministic, self‑correcting behavior and to optimise reasoning, planning and task execution for specific product use cases. You will develop custom tools, APIs and functions that allow agents to interact with enterprise systems like CRM, ERP and databases, and implement rigorous evaluation pipelines (e.g., RAGAS, synthetic data) to measure quality, reliability and factual accuracy. Collaboration with the GenAI Platform Team, Product Manager and UX Designer will ensure latency, cost, and business KPI targets are met while maintaining operational excellence and compliance.
The role requires at least two years of experience in software or ML engineering, ideally with a focus on generative AI products or agent‑based systems. Strong proficiency in Python, solid software‑engineering fundamentals, and hands‑on experience with modern agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen or equivalents) are essential. You should be comfortable connecting agents to Retrieval‑Augmented Generation systems, working with model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, etc.), and managing the full production deployment lifecycle, including Git, CI/CD, Docker and microservice integration. A passion for solving end‑user problems, strong analytical skills to debug non‑deterministic systems, and effective collaboration across cross‑functional squads are also required.
