Construction Inspector

Description

• Assist in the negotiation and preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other project-related documents and reports. This likely involves paperwork necessary for managing the project and its finances.
• The primary responsibility is to inspect and ensure the quality of work on highway and roadway construction projects. This involves verifying that the completed work aligns with the project plans and specifications.
• Coordinate the sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications. Ensuring that materials meet the required standards is crucial for project quality.
• Coordinate with the contractor and various public utility agencies to ensure the smooth progress of the project. This likely includes communication and collaboration with different stakeholders involved in the project.
• Monitor and track contractor progress and prepare regular reports, including daily, weekly, and monthly updates as needed. This helps keep all stakeholders informed about project status.

Requirements

• Strong time management and prioritization to juggle multiple tasks, deadlines, and stakeholders.
• Expertise in highway construction methodologies, materials, and equipment. Familiarity with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes/regulations.
• VDOT certifications are required, such as those related to asphalt, paving, concrete, and other relevant areas.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with diverse teams and provide clear, actionable feedback.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in roadway and highway construction inspection
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven track record in highway construction, inspection, or project management, with in-depth knowledge of construction processes and compliance requirements.
