This second‑level CAD Designer position uses VectorWorks to transform sketches, drawings, specifications, and engineering data into compliant designs that support the sales process and meet state and local building codes.
Key responsibilities include producing detailed pre‑construction drawings, collaborating with third‑party HVAC and engineering firms for system designs and calculations, creating complete electrical prints, and maintaining mastery of applicable building codes such as IRC, NEC, and HUD/Mfg.
The work environment combines typical office settings with occasional visits to outdoor sites; employees frequently stand, sit, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds while using close and color vision under quiet conditions.
- Create detailed, dimensioned floor plan drawings including gravity and uplift calculations
- Collaborate with third‑party HVAC designers to complete HVAC system designs
- Layout roof truss profiles using basic truss data
- Produce full electrical prints with circuits and loading diagrams
- Work with third‑party engineering firms to generate braced‑wall, seismic zone, high‑wind, and other structural calculations requiring a professional engineer’s stamp
- Maintain mastery of applicable building codes (IRC, NEC, HUD/Mfg.)
- Develop first‑stage production details such as window bucks and miscellaneous DWG files
- Begin using Cabinet Vision for cabinet design and cross‑train on the software
- Read and interpret scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents
- Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members
- Write speeches and articles following prescribed style and format
- Apply mathematical concepts including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry
- Use fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations

Candidates must hold an associate’s degree or equivalent, have six months to one year of CAD Designer I experience, and demonstrate overall mastery of the role’s duties and required competencies.
The role requires the ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents, respond to customer and regulatory inquiries, write professional communications, present information to senior audiences, and apply mathematical concepts and ratios to practical situations.

- Minimum of six months experience as CAD Designer I with overall mastery of job responsibilities
- Familiarize with modular state‑approved systems manuals and HUD DAPIA manual
- Present information effectively to senior management, public groups, or boards of directors
