Permitting Coordinator

Description

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive architect to oversee the permit application process for residential projects in California. This role will involve coordinating with local building departments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and expediting permit approvals to keep projects moving efficiently. The ideal candidate will work closely with the design department to prepare required documentation, monitor project timelines, and communicate confidently with city officials, consultants, and internal teams.

• Stay informed of changes in local permitting policies that may affect project timelines and requirements.
• Maintain organized documentation for permits, approvals, and project correspondence.
• Manage the permit application process for residential projects, ensuring all submissions meet state and local regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to expedite permit approvals by proactively addressing compliance requirements and coordinating necessary revisions.
• Ensure adherence to California building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations in all permit applications.
• Work closely with the design department to gather necessary plans, reports, and specifications for permit submissions.
• Track and monitor permit timelines, providing regular updates to internal stakeholders to maintain efficient progress.
• Liaise with city officials, building departments, and third-party consultants to facilitate approvals and resolve any permitting issues.

Requirements

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other architectural documentation tools.
• Strong knowledge of California building codes, zoning regulations, and permit processes.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to track multiple projects efficiently.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Urban Planning.
• Licensed Architect (preferred) or relevant experience in permit coordination for residential projects.
• Familiarity with permit expediting strategies and local jurisdiction requirements.
• Experience working with city agencies, planning boards, and regulatory bodies.
• Highly confident communicator with strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
