The Purchasing Agent oversees the development, negotiation, and execution of sourcing agreements for designated spend categories, while also creating and maintaining material take‑offs. The role supports the VP of Purchasing by managing the department’s timeline and workflow within the division.
Key duties include selecting subcontractors, reviewing site development plans, preparing bid packages, monitoring trade partner performance, and maintaining contract and purchasing system data. The agent also implements sourcing strategies to reduce costs, ensures compliance with insurance and budget policies, and resolves payment discrepancies.
Applicants must have at least a high school diploma, two years of purchasing experience—preferably with a national homebuilder—and the ability to read residential blueprints. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of nationwide construction practices, strong multitasking skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 25 lb are required.
