Journeyman Electrician

Description

The Journeyman Electrician reports to customers’ homes and businesses, arrives prepared with knowledge of the required work, and educates clients on system use, maintenance, and optimization. Responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing wiring, outlets, fixtures, and panels while adhering to safety standards and documenting each work order.

• Educate customers on system use, maintenance, damage prevention, and suggest service optimizations
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and replace wiring, outlets, fixtures, panels, and related components
• Use electrical hand tools, saws, drills, and circuit testing equipment as needed
• Determine service requirements using technical skills, performance standards, and preventive maintenance experience
• Maintain safe working conditions and personal safety throughout all tasks
• Supervise and mentor Apprentice Electricians when required
• Document detailed outcomes of every work order

Requirements

• Arrive on time at customer homes or businesses, prepared with knowledge of the required work
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read and understand technical instructions
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of equipment, tools, and methods commonly used in electrical services
• Understanding of code requirements and safety practices for electrical work
• Accurate diagnostic ability
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to clients
• Proficiency with computer software for timekeeping, billing, and credit card payments
• Applicable state and local electrical licenses
• Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check (safety‑sensitive position)
