Practice Leader- Transportation Planning

Description

The leader will oversee a multidisciplinary transportation planning practice, managing the planning, production, and delivery of projects across a wide range of study types and public engagement activities.

Leadership responsibilities include operating with integrity, setting practice vision and strategy, building and maintaining client relationships, communicating openly with partners and the team, managing projects profitably, mentoring staff, and supporting recruitment.

• Develop transportation mobility plans.
• Conduct multimodal corridor studies.
• Create safety action plans.
• Perform transit studies.
• Execute passenger rail studies.
• Lead pedestrian and bicycle studies.
• Manage parking and curbside management studies.
• Design electric vehicle plans.
• Produce climate adaptation and resilience plans.
• Perform MPO studies, including Long Range Transportation Plans (LRTPs).
• Facilitate public engagement.
• Write grant proposals.
• Mentor and develop staff, promoting teamwork and initiative.
• Lead outreach activities, presentations, and community meetings.
• Assist clients with program management, capital planning, and policy development.

Requirements

Candidates need 15+ years of planning experience, a bachelor’s degree or higher in transportation or urban planning, and a desire to lead and grow a practice; AICP registration, local/regional experience, and business development skills are preferred.
