The engineer will drive quality control and assurance objectives by supervising training, assigning quality work, and collaborating with Rolling Stock management to plan, monitor, and measure project performance against contract requirements. The position blends administrative, strategic, and operational tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Core duties include developing and enforcing automated manufacturing practices, validating processes, maintaining documentation, and managing staff to achieve consistent production quality. The engineer also ensures supplier materials and services meet Hitachi Rail standards, handles sensitive information discreetly, and conducts first‑article, in‑process, and pre‑shipment inspections.
Candidates must hold a four‑year degree (preferred) and have at least 2‑3 years of quality‑control or quality‑assurance experience in aerospace, automotive, or passenger‑transport manufacturing. Experience with SAP or other ERP systems, database management, and ISO 9001:2008 requirements is advantageous. Strong communication, analytical, problem‑solving, and leadership abilities are essential.
The role requires frequent walking, occasional standing, sitting, and lifting up to 75 lb, as well as occasional travel to supplier facilities and customer sites for inspections. Work is performed in a loud warehouse/production environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts.
Compensation ranges from $87,100 to $130,600 annually, depending on experience and internal equity.
