Controller

The Controller is a newly created leadership position designed to bring structure, accuracy, and accountability to the accounting function across multiple entities. You’ll report directly to the CFO and oversee a small but capable team, serving as the key accounting leader during a period of rapid expansion.

• Review and prepare financial statements, management reports, and annual budgets.
• Drive process automation and ERP optimization.
• Oversee AR/AP, payroll, cash reconciliations, and treasury functions.
• Lead technical accounting (revenue recognition, leases, capitalization, stock-based comp) and draft supporting accounting memos.
• Manage external audits, reviews, and tax compliance in partnership with auditors and advisors.
• Partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership to enhance reporting accuracy, reduce the current close cycle, and position the business for continued growth.
• Direct partnership with the CFO and executive team.
• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and standardized procedures.
• Oversee full monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities, including consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and reporting.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members, fostering accountability and cross-functional collaboration.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role — ideal for someone eager to build out processes, strengthen internal controls, and scale financial operations within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

• Deep understanding of technical accounting and audit processes.
• Significant visibility to investors, auditors, and leadership.
• Perferred: start-up and PE-backed company experience.
• Demonstrated experience in renewable-energy, infrastructure, or project-finance environments, particularly with tax-equity.
• 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience with a foundation in public accounting (Big 4 preferred).
• Proven success implementing internal controls, policies, and scalable accounting systems.
• ERP proficiency (Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
• Exposure to cutting-edge microgrid and battery storage projects in NYC.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented leader comfortable in a dynamic, build-stage environment.
• CPA required.

Compensation: $200,000–$215,000 base + 25% bonus | Relocation assistance available
