Senior Geotechnical Project Engineer (P.E.)

Full‑service geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing & environmental services.
Senior Geotechnical Project Engineer responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing geotechnical engineering projects, including site investigations, analysis, and recommendations for construction projects.
Performing pre-construction and weekly site visits throughout construction to assess site conditions.
Fostering positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to enhance satisfaction and promote future collaborations
Responsible for signing and sealing all related submittals as well as being available to meet with the Resident Engineer.
Conducting geotechnical site investigations of excavations, cutoff wall construction, embankment operations, and groundwater conditions throughout construction.
On a montly basis write and submit reports informing the Resident Engineer of the status of the plan and accounting contractors adherence to the plan addressing any present or potential problems.
Recommend updates to the excavation, work platform, cutoff wall, and embankment operation plans as construction progress to reflect changing conditions.
Preparing cost estimates, proposals, and invoices
Conducting feasibility studies, risk assessments and implement quality assurance processes to identify potential challenges, develop mitigation strategies and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations
Evaluating and analyzing geological and geotechnical conditions to assess risks and opportunities for construction projects
Coordinating and cooperate with lab and field departments
Staying updated on industry trends, technologies, and innovations to enhance project delivery and efficiency
Managing geotechnical aspects of projects, such as project execution, timelines, and milestones including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation
Preparing technical reports and documentation detailing analysis, findings, and recommendations

Experience with geotechnical fieldwork, including soil testing, drilling and instrumentation
Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports.
This job is in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related field
Lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud.
Previous experience working on a minimum of two embankment dam construction projects within the last 10 years.
Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics and foundation design
Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
Excellent project management, communication and problem solving skills.
Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.
Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Body motions and movements include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing.
