The Construction Mechanic supports construction craft workers and electricians on site, handling tools, materials, and equipment setup. The role involves a wide range of tasks from simple to hazardous, often performed outdoors and after hours.
Under the foreman’s supervision the mechanic leads a specific phase of work, directs others, and communicates to avoid problems. Duties include spotting heavy‑equipment operators, operating small machinery, cutting and threading steel pipe, assisting with grading and paperwork, maintaining a clean and safe job site, keeping tools organized, tracking inventory, and representing the company’s image. Travel up to 50‑60% of the time and work in all weather conditions are required.
Candidates must have a high‑school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with a clean DUI record for five years, and the ability to read blueprints, perform basic math, and use mechanical skills. Experience in HVAC, pipe‑fitting, petroleum construction, or a related field is preferred, along with the ability to pass drug screening, background checks, and MVR. Physical demands include repeatedly lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lb and standing 8‑10 hours per day.
