Theatre porter

Description

• Transport of patients between the Wards, Theatre Reception Areas and Post Anaesthetic Care Units.
• Collect any items required from other departments within the hospital as and when required.
• Demonstrate a caring manner towards patients at all times and after training has been provided assist with moving and handling of patients as and when necessary.
• Monitoring of levels of medical gas cylinders and changing when required.
• To provide a messenger and delivery service both within the department and to ensure effective communication with other departments.
• Collect equipment belonging to the department from wards and other areas.
• Preparation and checking of all theatre trolleys to ensure they are fit for use.
• Transfer of patients between beds / trolleys and theatre operating tables.
• To collect and transfer specimens to the Pathology Laboratory as and when directed to do so.
• Check used linen bags in changing rooms and change as and when necessary.
• To assist in general cleaning within the department and maintain operating trolley storage areas in a clean and tidy manner.
• Collect blood as and when required.
