Description

AFRL plans and executes USAF programs in basic research, exploratory development, and advanced development. Delaware Nation Industries provides organizational support to AFRL at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, ensuring an effective information management concept and structure that enables timely deployment and optimal operation of information systems for AFRL's research missions.

The position requires installing, repairing, and maintaining data communications lines and equipment with minimal technical guidance. Tasks include reviewing work orders, reading technical manuals, measuring and cutting wires, splicing cables, connecting microcomputers or terminals, developing test plans, using diagnostic tools, and monitoring repair activities to prevent network outages.

• Install, repair, and splice data communication lines, cables, modems, network cards, and related equipment.
• Review work orders to move, change, install, or remove communication hardware.
• Read technical manuals and develop test plans to verify data transmission using voltmeters and data scopes.
• Diagnose network issues, locate faults, and coordinate timely repairs or replacements.
• Plan equipment layout, negotiate orders with carriers, and oversee repair activities.
• Act as technical lead for junior specialists when required.
• Proactively initiate actions to prevent network outages.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an active CompTIA Security+ (or 8570 equivalent) certification, have a minimum of four years of direct experience, and preferably possess an active Secret clearance.
