  • Develop bespoke analysis to support product and operational changes, partnering with Data Engineers to productionise high-value queries and models
  • Analyse end-to-end billing and settlement data to identify revenue leakage, over/under-recovery, and portfolio settlement risks; size opportunities and track realised value
  • Using industry-leading granular data and superb tooling, you’ll:
  • Build targeted investigations and reconciliations (e.g., billed vs. settled volume, data quality, configuration impacts, consumption anomalies) and prioritise fixes by commercial impact
  • Collaborate with Industry, Billing, Energy Markets, and Finance teams to design controls and strategies that close gaps (e.g. proactive validations, root-cause remediation, migrations)
  • Develop and maintain clear visualisations and reports to story tell in a way that allows senior management to quickly grasp complex issues and collectively make decisions that protect margin and customer outcomes

We’ve got a spot for an analytical whizz who loves diving into data to make a real commercial dent here at Octopus Energy. Our dynamic Gross Margin Assurance team is looking for an Industry Assurance Analyst who’ll be key to our mission of putting a big green dent in the universe. You’ll compare industry data with our own, spot nuances, quantify settlement risk, drive margin improvements, and tackle billing and settlement costs as we serve over 7 million UK households.

  • A proficiency or strong desire to code with SQL (Databricks / Spark). dbt experience is a big plus. Data viz tooling familiarity is welcome
  • 3-5 years’ experience in related roles in UK retail energy with hands-on exposure to industry settlement and/or billing data. Specialism in revenue leakage and/or Gas portfolio analysis is a big plus
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial interest, and the ability to distinguish between what matters and what doesn’t
  • A track record of defining use cases, iterating towards solutions, and landing them in production workflows/controls
  • Skill in data storytelling—able to present complex industry concepts simply to varied audiences and turn findings into actions
