The Construction Manager I is responsible for leading a standalone multi‑craft project up to $30 million, overseeing safety, quality, equipment, material, manpower, and overall site coordination between senior craft leadership. The role may support the project lead or act as the lead, requiring a thorough multi‑discipline understanding of industry best practices and codes while interfacing with clients, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and project management.
- Oversee and manage General Foremen and Superintendents across multiple disciplines
- Represent MIC professionally in all client interactions
- Communicate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors on construction issues
- Champion and develop site‑specific safety plans aligned with MIC Corporate Safety Plan
- Review claimed quantities and identify productivity problems early
- Review work plans, work packages, and ensure timely quality inspections
- Coach Superintendents on maintaining labor rates below estimates
- Review and train staff on Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
- Lead jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, and safety training sessions
- Schedule material deliveries and monitor procurement status
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
- Review material takeoffs from drawings and specifications
- Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting for field operations
- Assist Project Engineer with data preparation for submittals and transmittals
- Review field‑issued purchase orders and subcontracts
- Partner with home‑office procurement and subcontract administration functions
- Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations
- Maintain project records, daily reports, photographs, RFIs, and other required correspondence
- Supply information for project controls such as productivity tracking and risk logs
- Assist in creating and maintaining the master project schedule
- Generate change orders and as‑built data for Project Manager review
- Review Superintendent schedules against the master schedule and train foremen on short‑term scheduling
- Work with Recruiting to hire craft professionals using MIC’s requisition process
- Train Superintendents on crew motivation and safety management
- Assist in converting estimates to MIC’s standard phase codes
- Request construction equipment and materials as needed
- Support cost forecasting for labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment, identifying trends and corrective actions
- Lead, mentor, and manage direct reports and crews of up to 200 employees
- Active participation in daily toolbox meetings on‑site
- Model safe behavior and promote safety culture
- Provide constructability and cost‑saving alternatives during design and construction

The position is full‑time, typically 50 hours per week with 12‑hour shifts, requiring hard physical work in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lb, work at heights, wear personal protective equipment, and maintain stamina for repetitive tasks in environments that may include dust, noise, and extreme temperatures.
- Understand all provisions, terms, and scope of the prime contract

This is a traveling, project‑based position that can be based in any U.S. city or state, with up to 90% travel time and an average project duration of 8‑18 months. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $180,000 annually, with performance‑based merit increases.
