The Role

Overview

Adjust casualty claims, investigate losses, negotiate settlements remotely.

Tasks

-Liaise with insured, insurer, broker, retained experts, etc. to resolve matters timely and equitably. -Transport objects weighing up to or exceeding 50 pounds. (regularly) -Report findings to either a McLarens Account Adjuster or directly to a Claims Examiner at an insurance company for their review and consideration. -Move about indoors and outdoors to conduct inspections. (regularly) -Transport, unfold, and extend OSHA approved ladder which may exceed 50 pounds. (frequently) -Handle paperwork and files. (regularly) -Travel to inspection sites. (regularly) -Maintain diary to ensure timely reporting to clients. -Investigate and determine the cause, circumstance, and extent of damage for causality related loss. -Review policy coverage and raise questions with insurers where appropriate. -Assist Large Loss Adjusters and Account Adjusters with various tasks, including investigations, assessment of loss, and interview or correspond with claimants or other relevant parties. -Prepare scope of damage and costs schedule. -Receive and review claim intake daily.

What You Bring

-Ability to plan and prioritize. -Appropriate state adjuster license(s). -Strong interpersonal and analytical skills. -Ability to maintain balance while traversing on narrow, slippery, or sloping surfaces. (regularly) -2+ years handling and managing complex commercial large losses. -Manual dexterity and coordination to extend hands and arms in various directions, using fingers in repetitive motion for keyboarding and writing. (regularly) -Strong communication skills; both verbal and written. -Experience with commercial and residential ISO policies including manuscript interpretations. -Ability to operate a laptop/computer, phone, other office productivity machinery (calculator, printer, etc.), and measuring devices. (regularly) -Ability to position self to inspect confined spaces, ascend and descend stairwells and ladders, traverse roofs, and work atop roofs. (frequently) -Established Broker/Carrier relationships. -4-5 years of commercial and residential property claims experience. -May require working in outdoor weather conditions. (Occasionally) -Knowledge of the independent claims adjusting business to include familiarity with local jurisdictional requirements and claim practices. -Proficient knowledge of Xactimate or other estimating platforms. -May exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly while moving objects. (Regularly) -4-year college degree preferred. -May require working in stationary position. (Occasionally) -Experience with general liability losses, product, contractors, and reinsurance preferred.
