The Component Shop Apprentice role at Summit Helicopters involves assisting with inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft components in accordance with approved maintenance data and regulatory requirements. The position supports component shop operations under the direction of the Component Shop Manager and provides hands‑on experience in a controlled shop environment. This is a resident role based in Kamloops, BC.
Core responsibilities include assisting with inspection, disassembly, cleaning, repair, assembly, and testing of components; performing maintenance tasks as assigned; complying with approved manuals, service bulletins, and internal memos; accurately completing documentation and component records; identifying and reporting potential defects or Service Difficulty Report situations; troubleshooting discrepancies; supporting parts identification, tagging, segregation, and traceability; maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop; and assisting licensed AMEs with testing, rigging, measurements, and basic sheet‑metal, composite, or electrical tasks under supervision.
Candidates must possess a Transport Canada AME M Training Diploma, a valid Canadian passport, and a valid driver’s licence. Prior hands‑on line experience on Summit Helicopters aircraft is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to take direction, learn quickly, work independently or as part of a team, and flexibility to work shifts including afternoons and weekends are required.
