- Liaise with Land/Development/Estimating/Construction/Sales Departments throughout the development process, provide technically correct information as required
- Comply with responsibilities as defined in the Group’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance with the same throughout the team
- Support site evaluation, planning, architectural/ or engineering design and the investigation of technical problems encountered and provision of economically viable solutions
- Liaise with external designers to ensure that best practice is followed, costs are controlled, the department maximises revenue generation and contribution to the company’s operating profit
- Be jointly responsible for producing technical design solutions within cost plan or approved appraisal budget
- Ensure that Technical Department procedures are adhered to, and layouts, technical reports for land appraisal and required working drawings are provided within the agreed date schedule
- Implement new ideas and methods and continue to seek ways of both improving contribution to the organisation’s goals and enhancing the reputation of the company
- Provide a practical and cost effective design service to the company
- Take responsibility for liaison with regulatory bodies such as the NHBC and planning authorities in order to satisfy current standards and conditions
- Negotiate and deliver planning consents to the agreed timetable

- Excellent communicator, with high detail orientation
- Knowledge and understanding of the major functions within the remit of Technical services and how they impact on site acquisition and development
- Demonstrable effective experience of working for a major company in a similar role or at the level of either Planner, Architectural Technician or Design Engineer
- Ability to prioritise tasks to meet changing business needs
- Extensive experience of working within established development methodologies
- Individual who is qualified as an Engineer, Architectural Technician or Planner to HNC level, RICS or RIBA qualified or NVQ Level 5 in a relevant subject
