Description
We are seeking a leader to drive the Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Management System across the region. The role works closely with Operations to manage hazards and risks associated with both new and existing business activities, establishing regional policies, procedures and programs, and measuring their effectiveness. Collaboration with the Global HSSE Team ensures corporate control measures are applied when necessary, while promoting a culture that reflects the organization’s commitment to health, safety and the environment.
The incumbent will design and develop the global HSSE Management System, lead its implementation and maintenance regionally, and provide support to other sites worldwide as required. Responsibilities include reviewing audit, inspection and compliance findings, establishing corrective actions, and periodically reporting HSSE statistics, initiatives and improvement recommendations.
The role provides direction and guidance for regional and site HSSE resources, communicates HSSE issues, laws and regulations to all stakeholders, and works with internal and external legal counsel to resolve HSSE‑related matters. It also oversees the development of communications that share lessons learned and promote HSSE awareness, ensuring that records, investigations and resolutions meet due‑diligence requirements.
Leadership of all regional HSSE matters includes interpreting legislation, recommending compliance strategies, and identifying best‑practice opportunities. The position advises on risks linked to new and existing activities, guides hazard identification and risk assessments, and coordinates training to satisfy global and regional HSSE requirements.
- Lead implementation and maintenance of the regional HSSE Management System.
- Partner with Operations to identify and mitigate hazards and risks for new and existing activities.
- Collaborate with the Global HSSE Team to apply corporate control measures where needed.
- Promote a culture of health, safety, security and environmental responsibility.
- Design and develop the global HSSE Management System framework.
- Review audit, inspection and compliance findings and establish corrective actions.
- Report regional HSSE statistics, initiatives and improvement recommendations.
- Provide guidance to regional/site HSSE resources and ensure clear communication of HSSE issues.
- Work with legal counsel to address HSSE‑related legal matters and ensure compliance.
- Oversee incident investigations and implement preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Develop and deliver training to meet global and regional HSSE requirements.
- Advise and coach the Regional Management Team on HSSE obligations.
- Serve as primary liaison with external HSSE regulators, organizations and consultants.
- Travel as needed to facilitate and oversee HSSE management system implementation.
