Description

• Practice safe and efficient work methods related to code enforcement.
• Utilize modern office procedures, including word processing and database management.
• Maintain records and prepare reports according to established principles.
• Navigate municipal services and court procedures, including citation issuance and obtaining inspection warrants.
• Investigate and enforce code violations impartially and efficiently.
• Interpret and apply state and local policies, laws, and regulations to code enforcement.
• Communicate clearly in oral and written form; secure inspection warrants and court documents.
• Maintain and update logs, reports, and photography; operate standard office equipment.
• Respond to inquiries, complaints, and service requests fairly, tactfully, and promptly, building effective relationships even with difficult individuals.
• Maintain healthy working relationships with contractors, builders, and the public.
• Identify and solve complex problems by advising developers, engineers, architects, property owners, and contractors on code requirements and alternatives.
• Perform physical tasks such as kneeling, crouching, and climbing tall ladders.

Requirements

4LEAF is seeking a qualified Code Enforcement Officer within the King County, Washington area. Candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience working as a Code Enforcement Officer. The role requires outstanding customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication, and a valid Washington driver’s license with a clean driving record.

• Apply knowledge of basic codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations for code abatement.
• Employ effective communication techniques when interacting with the public.
• Possess 1+ years experience handling nuisance, blight, substandard housing, and unpermitted construction.
• Deliver strong customer service with effective listening and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Exhibit critical thinking and sound decision‑making capabilities.
• Hold a valid Washington driver’s license with a clean record.
