Traveling Senior Electrical Superintendent - MSG - Data Centers

Description

The incumbent will lead, direct, and coordinate all field activities for electrical systems, ensuring schedule adherence, safety, budget compliance, and quality as defined by contract documents, reporting to the Superintendent, Project Manager, and MEP Manager.

• Serve as liaison among engineers, consultants, subcontractors, inspectors, and owner’s representatives to resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Develop comprehensive project schedules covering engineering, coordination, installation, start‑up, testing, commissioning and turnover.
• Monitor work progress against schedule using appropriate tools and benchmarks.
• Evaluate and approve subcontractor monthly payment requisitions, considering remaining work and manpower needs.
• Lead the MEP team, providing mentorship and guidance to subordinates.
• Identify logistical or field issues for the MEP Coordination team and propose pre‑planned solutions.
• Prepare scope‑of‑work documents defining responsibilities and temporary operation requirements for trades.
• Ensure work execution conforms to contract documents and approved submittals in collaboration with the MEP Engineer.
• Pre‑plan field activities to ready areas for work.
• Allocate and control manpower to prioritize critical systems and track progress throughout the project schedule.
• Develop solutions for conflicts between mechanical, electrical, and other trades.
• Co‑lead turnover process (start‑up, testing, commissioning, closeout) with the MEP Engineer.
• Communicate difficult installation requirements to field staff early for proper planning.
• Co‑develop and implement the quality‑control plan with the MEP Engineer.

Requirements

The role is situated in the Critical Facilities‑Data Centers division of Turner Construction, based in Minneapolis, MN, and requires 100 % travel on a full‑time assignment supporting advanced‑technology projects across data centers, pharmaceutical, industrial/manufacturing, and EV/battery/renewables market segments.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience) and possess at least four years of relevant engineering experience with strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, business acumen, excellent communication, organizational skills, computer proficiency, and demonstrated leadership to build high‑performing teams.

The position entails occasional physical tasks such as climbing stairs, ladders, and using construction hoists, with the ability to lift up to 50 lb, and requires vision capabilities (close, peripheral, depth perception). The work environment is a construction site with exposure to moving parts, heights, fumes, weather, noise, and potential electrical hazards.
