Rail Domain Consultant – High-Speed Train Rolling Stock

Occasional Travel to OEM and Client Sites within India

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high-speed train rolling stock projects in India.
• Ensure compliance with international rail standards (EN, TSI, UIC) and incorporate global best practices into Rail projects.
• Travel to OEM and client sites within India as required to provide on-ground technical support.
• Conduct technical workshops, reviews, and knowledge transfer sessions to strengthen Cyient’s internal capabilities.
• Provide high-level consulting on system design, engineering, integration, validation, testing, and commissioning.
• Liaise with rolling stock OEMs, system integrators, and operators across India to ensure technical alignment and successful project execution.
• Support internal engineering teams with design reviews, technical problem-solving, and risk assessments.

This opportunity is open to experienced professionals from the Asia-Pacific region with deep domain expertise in high-speed rolling stock and a willingness to work on-site in India as an expatriate consultant.

We are seeking a seasoned Rail Domain Consultant with substantial Asia-Pacific experience in high-speed train rolling stock to join our engineering division in India. This is an expatriate role, ideal for professionals from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, or other Asia-Pacific countries, who bring strong expertise in the design, development, and integration of high-speed train systems. The consultant will work closely with Cyient’s internal teams and external stakeholders, supporting major rail projects and ensuring alignment with international technical standards.

Senior Professional (10+ years)

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multicultural teams.
• Prior expatriate or international consulting experience is highly desirable.
• Proven expertise in at least one or more of the following areas: system integration, vehicle design, traction systems, braking, safety systems, commissioning.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Railway Engineering (or equivalent).
• 10–15+ years of experience in high-speed train rolling stock engineering in the Asia-Pacific region (e.g., Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Australia).
• Experience in mentoring engineering teams and developing technical training programs.
• Experience working with leading high-speed rail manufacturers or operators (e.g., JR Group, Hyundai Rotem, CRRC, Hitachi Rail, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, etc.).
• Fluent in English (Japanese or other regional languages a plus).
• Strong understanding of international rail engineering practices and compliance standards (TSI, EN, UIC, etc.).
