Description

This position operates basic saw types such as pop‑up, miter, and web saws to cut planks, timbers, or boards according to work orders. The operator is responsible for setting up the saw, adjusting speeds, and ensuring the material is fed correctly to produce the required cuts.

• Review work orders to identify required cuts.
• Adjust saw settings and speed for each cut.
• Operate feed rolls and manually feed lumber when needed.
• Observe automatic feeding and ensure proper material flow.
• Stack processed lumber after cutting.
• Notify supervisor when saw blades become dull.
• Contribute to teamwork, give and receive feedback, and prioritize team success.
• Ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and continuous quality improvement.
• Meet productivity standards and complete work in a timely manner.
• Follow safety and security procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Follow instructions, take responsibility, and complete tasks on time or provide alternatives.

Requirements

The work environment requires regular standing, frequent use of hands, and manual handling, including lifting up to 50 lb. Employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, loud noise, and changing weather conditions, and must have close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Meet minimum requirement of less than high school education or up to one month related experience/training, or an equivalent combination.
• Communicate clearly and listen for clarification.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Read simple two‑ and three‑syllable words, recognize basic word differences, and print/speak simple sentences.
