BAU Outside Plant Engineer

Description

• Meet with township, city, county, and state officials to discuss road and utility projects (travel reimbursed).
• Locate and identify Frontier facilities and evaluate project impacts with managers and municipal engineers.
• Develop relocation plans with other utilities to minimize conflicts and avoid delays.
• Execute field and design OSP work orders, including service orders, subdivisions, road moves, dark‑fiber MDU, and aerial or underground copper/fiber installations.
• Update design and project systems such as FROGS, CAD, Varasset, and SiteTracker.
• Coordinate make‑ready work, pole replacements, and service requests with power companies and communication providers.
• Prepare and submit permits to local, state, and federal agencies (DOT, DNR, railroad, pipeline, etc.).
• Partner with SSP contractors to ensure timely, cost‑effective construction.
• Address plant damage repair requests, including cable count adjustments and capital projects.
• Conduct site surveys and design capital projects for cell towers.
• Support field and central office technicians by investigating and resolving PUC complaints.
• Collaborate with contract engineers to align projects with business and client needs.

Requirements

Pearce is seeking a highly skilled OSP Engineer to support copper and fiber outside‑plant projects. The role involves estimating, analyzing, designing, and planning OSP projects, tracking budgets, and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. Successful candidates will coordinate with municipal agencies, contractors, and utilities to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

Applicants must reside within one hour of any of the listed Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia cities, including Ashland, KY; Huntington, WV; and numerous locations across OH such as Columbus‑adjacent communities.

• 3–5+ years in copper and fiber‑optic telecommunications engineering, including broadband design and OSP construction.
• 5+ years in network engineering or related field with strong knowledge of fiber record management, cable counts, and permitting.
• Proficiency in FROGS, CAD updates, and OSP telecom construction tools.
• Experience with Frontier mapping, design tools, and permitting systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with municipal officials, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Knowledge of permitting processes and requirements.
• Ability to travel as needed for project meetings, inspections, and surveys.
