Garden and Grounds Manager
Clayton
Leading U.S. builder of modern manufactured, modular, CrossMod®, site‑built and tiny homes.
Manage garden production and campus grounds, overseeing planting, harvesting, and landscaping.
Prepares and maintains reports and records to comply with regulatory statutory, and departmental requirements.
Maintains calendars and budgets including all grounds crew department for personnel and grounds expenditures.
Collaborate with Culinary team for farm to table program.
Collaborates with Campus Operations Leadership to ensure work aligns closely with overall vision, mission, and goals.
Sets clear goals, priorities, objectives, and expectations for all Garden and Grounds Team Members, ensuring those goals align with the overarching Campus Operations mission and vision.
Oversee the upkeep of Clayton Corporate Campus which includes Clayton Road, Clayton Lodge and Cabin Units, Clayton Cottage, Clayton Bradley Academy, and additional temporary housing units.
Manage and create operational standards and maintain a composting operation.
Manage installation and maintenance of high tunnel and irrigation equipment.
Participate in weekly management meetings.
Manages inventory of department tools, equipment, building / shop supplies, and chemicals.
Owns the Team Member Experience for both Garden and Grounds teams, ensuring all TMs have the tools, resources, and support they need to be successful in their roles.
Crop Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive crop plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, and variety selection, ensuring maximum yield and productivity while adhering to organic farming principles.
Provides ongoing feedback to support the performance and development of each TM
Reports metrics and progress to Campus Operations Manager.
Field Management: Oversee and execute the cultivation, irrigation, and pest management activities, ensuring that all practices follow organic standards and maintain the health and quality of crops and soil.
Develops detailed annual plans for the seasonal rotation of plants, flowers, etc.
Seeding and Transplanting: Manage seeding and transplanting processes, including nursery management, soil preparation irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
Oversee the preparation of soil plant beds, established by seed or transplants, and maintains annual perennial flowers in aesthetically pleasing arrangements across all Campus locations.
Responsible for hiring, training, and setting schedules for a positive and productive team.
Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records of seeds, equipment, supplies, and other necessary materials for vegetable production. Operates a variety of farm equipment.
Collaborate with Wellness team for education and engagement programs.
Maintain compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and requirements.
Maintains HLT certification for pesticide and disease control.

High School Diploma and advanced education in sustainable agriculture or equivalent field experience.
Years of Related Experience: 5-7 years’ minimum relevant experience, prior supervisory experience required.
Ability to build and manage a positive and efficient team.
Knowledge of Organic and regenerative growing practices.
Education: Advanced education in sustainable agriculture or equivalent field experience.
Ability to complete projects within the proposed timeline.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Available for after-hours situations that may fall under the purview of garden maintenance.
