Description

The CNA assists licensed nursing staff with routine nursing duties and activities of daily living, following policies under the direction of the RN and Administrator, providing direct resident care and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Key responsibilities include helping residents with ambulation, bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene, and activities; following care plans; reporting changes in condition; supporting psychosocial needs; ensuring resident rights; handling spills; meal setup/teardown; responding to call lights; participating in admissions, transfers, discharges; transporting residents; documenting data; and identifying hazards while adhering to infection control and universal precautions.

• Assist residents with daily living activities (ambulation, bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene).
• Follow resident care plans and provide basic and specialized personal care under nurse supervision.
• Report any changes in resident condition (behavior, mood, vitals, appetite) to nursing staff.
• Support psychosocial needs through appropriate communication with residents, families, and staff.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by complying with infection control, universal precautions, and cleaning bodily fluid spills.
• Set up and break down meals daily and respond promptly to call lights.
• Participate in admission, transfer, discharge procedures and transport residents to activities.
• Accurately document required data in a timely manner using appropriate forms.
• Identify safety hazards or emergencies and take immediate appropriate action.
• Adhere to punctual attendance, dress code, confidentiality, code of conduct, and teamwork standards.
• Attend in‑service training, maintain current CNA certification, and keep Oral Medication Technician certification.
• Provide excellent hospitality: greet warmly, treat respectfully, anticipate needs, respond enthusiastically, be accountable and professional.

Requirements

The role requires punctual attendance across three shifts (6 am, 2 pm, 10 pm), adherence to dress code, confidentiality, code of conduct, and teamwork. Employees must maintain certification, attend training, and comply with all policies, including zero tolerance for workplace violence and discrimination.

Qualifications include graduation from a certified 75‑hour Nursing Assistant program, current Iowa Nurse Aide Registry status, and Oral Medication Technician certification; preferred candidates have at least one year of experience.
